Michael L. Doyle (President/Director of Sales and Marketing)
Michael received a BS in Marketing from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.  At Merrimack College, he also played 4 years of Varsity tennis and after graduation continued working on his game as a part time assistant tennis pro at the Willows Tennis Club in North Andover, MA for several years.  After receiving his degree, he joined a small family owned company that was involved with medical instruments (Pulmonary Function Testing) and was also a distributor for a UK based company that manufactured research instruments for the “Photosynthesis” market.  For approximately 7 years, Michael was responsible for handling all business activities associated with the distribution of photosynthesis related products in North America including importation, sales, service and technical support.    

Andrew Lintz (Vice President/Director of Engineering and R & D)
Andy received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University in Houston, TX.  After graduation, he then worked on aircraft components, oceanographic and space shuttle instruments, fiber optics sensors, and semiconductor equipment robotics before joining PP Systems in 2000.

Corporate History

In 1993, Michael Doyle formed PP Systems, Inc. which began out of a spare bedroom in his house.  At that time, his office included a computer, printer, telephone and fax machine.  Given Michael’s experience in the “Plant and Soil Science” research market, he was able to relatively quickly generate new business from several universities and government institutes throughout North America.  This led to the need for additional space for sales, service and light manufacturing.  As a result of steady growth and success from 1993-2003, PP Systems had to relocate 2 times before settling in at its current location at Boston North Technology Park in February 2003.  The unit that PP Systems occupies is perfect for our type of business that includes sales, service, R & D and light manufacturing space and there is room to grow if we have to.  As a matter of fact, we recently doubled our space in late 2008 to meet increased demands placed on the business.

Today, PP Systems is considered a world leader in the design and manufacture of research instrumentation for measurement of photosynthesis, soil respiration, chlorophyll fluorescence, CO2/H2O gas analysis and vegetation reflectance.  Our customers come from a wide variety of scientific disciplines including agronomy, horticulture, biology, botany, crop and soil sciences, forestry, ecology, meteorology, oceanography and plant physiology to name a few.  Our equipment is in use in over 100 countries worldwide and well documented in many prestigious scientific publications.

In addition to our own products which are produced in Amesbury, we are also the exclusive distributors for 3 other UK based companies in North America.  These companies produce a range of products that are very complimentary to our own products adding to the diversity of products offered which is important to the success of our business.
